Quincy Notre Dame deserved a better fate in today's girls basketball Class3A state semifinal, but lost in overtime to Chicago Marshall.
Sophomore Karlee Gengenbacher is by far Notre Dame's best player. She carried the Raiders on her considerable shoulders and, like her team, gave a tremendous effort.
Here's to hoping they can bring back a third-place trophy to Quincy Saturday night.

I knew it would be tough, Chi Marshell is a jugarnaut (sp?)coach has been there something like 33 years, they've won quite a few titles larely . How tough it will be to play the 3rd place game!
Good job QND
Dad said it was one of the BEST games he has ever seen !
Man that stinks I really wanted to see those girls win it all !
Went to the game. It was nice to see Quincy stand toe-toe with the a Chicago team.
They played well, and I thought they had it won.
What did we learn? Quincy can play with anyone. Seeing a small school (less than 500) go against a large school and leading the majority of the game was great.
They are a very talented team.
