Smoke Gets In Your Eyes

Fun times in LaBelle last night. Best wishes to Lisa Wolter and her family as she battles ALS. The people were great and treated us well and it was a good experience. We were honored to be asked to play.

The best part came when Lisa's husband offered to auction off his mustache he'd wore since he was a teen. A bunch of people threw $210 into a pot and they shaved it off while we played "Play That Funky Music" with improvised lyrics.

One thing we all noticed right off the top was the smoke. Illinois law prohibits smoking in public places, and everybody in the band noticed it had been a long time since we've had to deal with it.

I don't care if people smoke, in fact I feel sorry for them for being gripped by such a nasty addiction. And I like to have a cigar once in a while too. But a room full of people smoking is the worst. And the funk settles into everything — my guitars, gig bag, stands, everything.

Smoke 'em if you get 'em, I guess.

You are sounding awfully sanctimonious for someone who couldn't stay off the bottle.

What bottle? Phil, Phil, Phil .... just cause you don't drink or smoke doesn't mean you have to be so cranky!

I enjoyed the smoking to a point. Once we started home though I realized just how bad it lingered in my clothes.... yuck. What a difference from coming home from an Illinois bar!

BTW, Rot only had 3 beers total all night Dr Phil. I don't know who you are but you should work on being less judgemental and more people friendly and open minded.

I always find it interesting when people are so willing to point the finger at someone who indulges in a vice different than their own, and get all fusy about it in the process. If you call pointing that out judgemental, then so be it.

I am not even a smoker, but as long as he rags on smokers, I will point out how much he drinks. At one point he quit drinking and I had hoped he wouldn't have to medicate himself with alcohol anymore, but, that didn't last very long.

That was my point.

As far as being people friendly, I care about his liver. If you cared about it, you wouldn't be shooting the messenger.

No Phil, you missed the point. Read the post. It says I don't care if people smoke.

And I've never pointed the finger at people who drink. Ever. Medicate myself? Who said anything about that?

Bang, Bang.... You're really not much of a messenger!

Sorry that you don't get the point.
