American Idol Is Stupid

I've accidently watched bits and pieces of American Idol lately and I don't get it.

It's dumb. The judges, especially this guy named Simon, are full of themselves. The gal who got eliminated last night was horrible. One of the guys didn't sound so bad.

But I just don't understand why people go crazy over this stuff. At work they come over and blab endlessly about how so and so should have done better and so and so might not last long and so and so nailed some dumb cover song.

I'm alone in the world, but I'm not watching it and don't care.

There. I feel better.

Someday, Rodney, you will see the light. And may it shine brightly.

You are not alone.... Since being forced to watch it recently myself, your feelings are valid. But, for God's sake, it is the only show she watches!!!

Sorry RH,

Not alone here.

or paint dry....

or grass grow....

I'm with you RH. I do watch the first week or two, to see the shitty singers, and be impressed with the random good ones. But after that, it's pretty much just a show for obsessed, hard-core fans.

And we're dumb for missing it. That's not me saying that, that's the impression I get.

Rodney, I hope you don't feel like you're the black sheep of the group.

It's not your fault if you prefer to watch a singer's career excel by working their butt off, not winning some reality show contest.

I am proud to say I have never seen a single episode of American Idol, Survivor, that lie detector show, Big Brother, or any Top Chef shows.

It'll be nice to welcome back The Office in seven days.

I like seeing who the talents are, an I like seeing an ameteur get up there and do something. I could go without all the commentary by the judges. Verbal hershey squirts in myopinion.

it is a show that a family can watch..this season the contestants had to sing a Beatles song, a song from the year they were born, etc....I find it a good way to introduce a 12 year old and 7 year old girl to some great classic music without shoving it down their throat..I find it amazinglly cool that my 7 year old can name more Beatles songs than Britney...I am in gotham now at a bar, business junk.

Rocky, while I understand that .... I still don't get it. My daughter was raised listening to "cool drums" (Peter Gabriel) and "the big spaceship" (Boston), but I never shoved it down her throat. Today she has an eclectic taste in music and I don't necessarily like it all, but it's her choice and I respect it. Good for your daughter for liking the Beatles. I still hate American Idol.

You ain't alone RH.

I have no desire to watch it--it makes me cringe to even think about it.

And verbal abuse masquerading as "coaching" is only the beginning.
